Mother
Coexist.
Part I: The Meeting
Tonight, I AM sat across myself
One thrillingly optimistic
Another irritatingly exhausted
Such diabolical presence
Yet, no one fights.
Rivals
Part II: The Eternal Plea
How is it that, like sand, time slippage through my hand,
And yet, I stand here forever, like unending time?
Again and again, I feel this wrath of being eternal.
Mother, why not tonight, you let me rest?
Bathe me in wine, maybe sing me a song.
Dine me with your best lamb,
Shine me like those glistening stars,
Where eyes shed tears in its awe.
Mother, why not let me rest tonight?
I know, even you know,
It is not easy being both you and I.

The two parts of this poem, along with the visual piece “Rivals”, was created to come together as a meditation on the paradox of being—thriving yet tired, mortal yet eternal, seeking rest while embodying the essence of life itself. Together, they illustrate the simultaneous presence of contrasting states and their need to coexist as One.
